Why We Collect Data

We collect data for various reasons, such as:

What We Collect and Share

What we collect and share depends largely on the interaction that takes place between you and Scoutek, most of which can be categorized under the following:

Purchasing Scoutek Products

When you purchase Scoutek Products or Services, we collect the minimum information to process your payment and create your customer account. This information may include name, shipping address, zip code, email address, phone number, and a brief description of your Payment Method, such as "VISA ending in ****1234". SCOUTEK DOES NOT DIRECTLY COLLECT OR RETAIN ANY OF YOUR PAYMENT METHOD INFORMATION. Scoutek uses a third-party service provider to process your credit card or PayPal transactions. Scoutek will defer any responsibility of safe-guarding your Credit Card information to those third party companies that actually receive it. Your Credit Card information is transmitted directly from your browser or mobile app running on your computer or device directly to the Credit Card Processor and is never sent to Scoutek. The only information Scoutek will receive is a brief description of the Payment Method used in that transaction and an internal Transaction ID which allows Scoutek to match up the purchase with the transaction/charge by the third party service provider. The third party service provider used is a company called Braintree, a division of PayPal.

Using Scoutek Social Services

Based on the setting of your Scoutek Account Type other users of Scoutek may be able to see your name and any bio data you have provided. In addition you have the option of "sharing" a camera with other users, which will give them access to all photos, photo tags, camera settings, and other data pertaining to that camera. You also have the option to give another Scoutek user administrative privileges to your camera which gives that user the ability to change camera settings, delete photos and modify any other settings pertaining to that camera.

You have the ability to change your Scoutek Account Type and bio data, remove users from following you or stop sharing a camera with other users at anytime.

You may also initiate "posting" photos and comments to public or private forums, blogs or walls (collectively "website"). Any photos, comments or other data related to the post will then be visible to all who can access those posts via the website or mobile app. We invite you to participate with community posts and discussion forums. If you choose to submit a post, your name, bio, photo and any other information that you choose to provide may be visible to the public. We are not responsible for the privacy of any information that you choose to post to our website or for the accuracy of any information contained in those postings. Any information that you disclose becomes public information so please use caution and good judgement before posting any photos or data. We cannot prevent such information from being used in a manner that may violate this Policy, the law or your personal privacy. All users must also agree to our Terms & Conditions prior to activating their account or transmitting any post.

Scoutek's Vendors, Partners and Service Providers

When you purchase products and services from Scoutek, it may be required that we provide a minimal amount of information to the vendors, partners or services providers.
